Adriana Rossi
Your personal wine shopperMontevideo
Uruguay offers plentiful amounts of tasty wine but buying can be tricky. Some of the gems are only available at specialty wine shops or from the wineries themselves. Plus not all of the varieties (tannat, for example) or producers are familiar to those who are new to the country.
That’s where Adriana Rossi steps in, creating custom wine packs that can be delivered or picked up. With well over a decade in the beverage industry focusing on Uruguayan wines, Adriana is in fact the current President of the Uruguayan Sommeliers Association. She’s the ideal professional to match the right wines with her clients.
Just tell Adriana how many bottles, what you want to pay and the type of wines you like. She’ll do the rest.
What’s included
Wine A case of 6 bottles is the minimum purchase
A technical sheet describing each wine, including its retail price and food pairing options. It’s currently written in Spanish but as it’s digital you can easily use Google Translate.
Free delivery in Montevideo in Pocitos, Punta Carretas and Parque Rodo. Contact Adriana for delivery charges further afield. You can also pick up at Bestiario Bar on Libertad 2464, Pocitos.
What you should know
You determine an average bottle price Some bottles will be cheaper or more expensive. Wine prices are reasonable in Uruguay so it’s possible to get an excellent selection for an average of 300 pesos/per bottle.
Don’t worry about whether or not you can “talk wine.” Adriana knows how to understand your tastes even when you might not know exactly how to describe them. In our experience, her choices have been spot on.
The Guru’s experience At Christmas I asked Adriana to select a case of 24 assorted wines for 6000 pesos total (that’s less than eight dollars a bottle). I told her we tend to drink reds but had white that we loved which I named and that we were going to be at the beach for much of the drinking. Bottles delivered – the verdict: We loved every single bottle except for one – which my mum who was visiting raved about, so win-win
It was so great not to have to think about wine and fun to follow the pairing suggestions provided by Adriana especially for our selection. Since then I’ve recommend Adriana to a bunch of friends including connoisseurs and they are loving the service for both selection and value.
